03 escape - low oil pressure light stuck on after replacing sensor.

I replaced the low oil pressure sensor on my 03 escape 3L v6. Before replacement the light would flicker at low idle after the car was warmed up, and would shut off while accelerating. I replaced the sensor, and after starting it up, the light remains on at all times. Do I need to reset the computer or something? I cant think what I did wrong, it was a pretty simple procedure...

I would guess something is blocking it. Did you clean the hole and make sure it is free of debris? Did you use teflon tape or paste on it, that could be blocking the hole in the oil pressure switch?

Those switches are not exact switch to switch, they only have to work at like 2-8 psi, meaning one can flicker at say 5 and the next one to it on the parts shelf would be on solidly, or off. Flicker and solid on can happen at a 1 psi difference.

Use a mechanical oil pressure gauge to check the operation of the light. You may well have a worn out engine.
